ประวัติ
Yann Collet (ผู้สร้าง LZ4 ด้วย) พัฒนา Zstandard ที่ Facebook ในปี 2015 เปิดเป็นโอเพนซอร์สในปี 2016 และได้รับมาตรฐานเป็น RFC 8478 ในปี 2018
